The legend

The orisnitsi are three sisters who come on the third night after a child is born. They stand over the cradle and speak its fate: how long it will live and what it will become. The eldest has the last word, and no one can change it.

The house gets ready for that night. Bread, wine and honey are left on the table so the orisnitsi arrive in a good mood, and the light is not put out. Nobody sees them — sometimes only the mother hears them.

What is left of the custom today is the baby's pogacha, the bread broken for a newborn. The family gathers and speaks wishes over the child, as the orisnitsi once did. The belief is the same: words said at the start stay.

The design

Three veiled sisters under gothic arches: one spins, one holds the thread, one cuts it. The orange thread drops straight into the cradle, between “Всеки има нишка” — everyone has a thread — and “Всяка има край” — every thread has an end.

Care instructions

Three rules. Follow them and you'll get bored of the print before it wears out.

  1. Wash inside out, at 40° max, no bleach.

  2. Don't tumble dry.

  3. Don't iron directly on the print — high heat takes away its elasticity and the ink cracks.

The fit is unisex and oversized by design, with dropped shoulders. Between two sizes? Take the larger one. Measurements are of the garment itself, laid flat — width is armpit to armpit, not chest circumference.
